NOTORIOUS is the story of CHRISTOPHER WALLACE who, through raw talent and sheer determination, transforms himself from a Brooklyn street hustler to become the greatest rapper of all time, THE NOTORIOUS B.I.G. This story charts his meteoric rise to fame and his refusal to succumb to expectation. Produced by Voletta Wallace (BIG's mother), Wayne Barrowman and Mark Pitts (BIG's managers), NOTORIOUS challenges us all to redefine our notion of what is "The American Dream."
Notorious is an upcoming biographical film about the life of hip hop star The Notorious B.I.G., who is played by fellow Brooklynite Jamal Woolard. It will also feature Angela Bassett as his mother Voletta Wallace, Derek Luke as Biggie's manager Sean "Diddy" Combs, and Anthony Mackie as rap rival Tupac Shakur. Other roles include Naturi Naughton as Lil' Kim and Antonique Smith as wife Faith Evans.
The film is currently in post-production and it will hit theaters on January 16, 2009. A teaser trailer was released in late September. An exclusive trailer was played during the BET Hip-Hop Awards showing more of what The Notorious B.I.G. does and more of Tupac's part.
The film has been rated R by the MPAA for pervasive language, some strong sexuality including dialogue, nudity, and for drug content.
Finally, the actor for the movie "Notorious B.I.G." has been found. Jamal "Gravy" Woolard will be playing the legendary MC, Christopher “Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace in the movie.
“Finding B.I.G. was a task in itself, and I’m honored that so many young men came out to audition for the role,” Voletta Wallace, Biggie’s mother, said in a statement released Thursday (March 6). “However, it was Jamal’s charming personality, warm spirit, wonderful sense of humor and beautiful smile that won my heart. He is a talented and charismatic actor, and I am excited that he will bring Christopher’s character to the big screen.”
